About the projects

Three major infrastructure projects have been planned for the Euston area. The London terminus of HS2, the redevelopment of the conventional rail station and associated development around both stations.

Transforming the area

The redevelopment of Euston is one of the largest transport-led regeneration projects of the 21st Century, supporting social and economic growth to build back better, greener and faster.

We’re creating a new and improved high-speed transport hub, connecting people to each other, people to businesses and businesses to markets.

Our partners are working on a number of programmes in Euston and the immediate surrounding area.

Redevelopment of Euston Station

Led by Network Rail

Euston offers an opportunity to build a station that enhances the local area and better serves the community. The redeveloped Euston Station will be a vital interchange between important local, regional, and national transport routes. Reliable, efficient, connected transport links at Euston will bring people and businesses closer together.

THE HS2 STATION

Euston will be the London terminus station for HS2, bringing services to the heart of the capital.

Once complete, HS2 will significantly increase the number of seats out of Euston station during peak hours and free up space on the West Coast Mainline for more local and long distance commuter services to places like Watford, Northampton and Milton Keynes. The new station will bring huge improvements for passengers using the London Underground at Euston and forms part of the last big regeneration in central London, spanning 60 acres.

Over-station development

Led by Lendlease, the Master Development Partner

The redevelopment brings with it a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to transform Euston into more than a station. New homes (including provision for affordable and social housing), businesses, shops and community facilities, as well as public and open space will mean Euston is a place where existing and new residents, employees, commuters and visitors can thrive.

Lendlease is an international construction, property and infrastructure company, and is the government’s Master Development Partner for Euston.

The Euston Area Plan

Led by Camden Council

The Council will consider plans for development at Euston against its planning policies and frameworks – most notably the Euston Area Plan which is currently being updated. The Council works to represent the community of Euston and the wider borough. While parliament has granted HS2 permission to build the station, Camden Council retains its usual planning powers for the proposals developed by Lendlease.

In the coming months Camden Council will be contacting the community to have their say on the Euston Area Plan. You’ll be able to share your views online and with the Council, your friends, neighbours and community as well as the organisations responsible for delivering projects at Euston.
